The Somerset Light Infantry

Introduction Book front cover In September 2002, the Somerset Record Office embarked on a Heritage Lottery funded project to catalogue and preserve the regimental papers of the Somerset Light Infantry. Included within this collection are over 1800 photographs and photograph albums of the regiment, which provide a pictorial history from the 1860s through to the present day. As part of the original project all these photographs were catalogued, providing details of the subject, place and date where known.

Liz Grant, of the then Somerset Record Office now Somerset Heritage Centre, produced a book, which is a Regimental History, illustrated with some 200 of these photographs. The front page of the book, which is available for sale at the Somerset Heritage Centre, is shown here.
